Strong potential second Born theory for electron loss to the continuum in collision with heavy targets

چکیده
A second-order Born themy is formulaled for the description of forward electron emission from a light projectile in energetic collision with a heavy target atom. This theory is termed 'strong potential second Born theory' $82) because it accounts for electron propagation in the strong tuget potential It is evaluated for the singly inelastic contribution to electron loss, while the first Born approximation is used for the simultaneous projectile-target exciwtion. From the SBZ theory, the 'impulse approximation' of Hartley and Walters is derived. By comparison with experimental data for the Het t Ar system it is shown that both theories account well for the electron intensity, while the asymmetry of the forward peak is only correctly given by SB~. For larger emission angles. consideration of the target potential in the electronic final state is of increasing importuce. Then the SB? becomes inferior to the eleclron impact approximation.

Elastic scattering of quasi-free electrons in strongly asymmetric collisions
A systematic study of the doubly differential cross sections for the electron emission occurring in fast strongly asymmetric collisions is presented. Protons and atomic hydrogen (0.5 MeV) were collided with the heavy targets krypton and xenon under single collision conditions. The ejected electrons were observed at laboratory angles in the range 0'<8,5180"and with energies E,from 25 to 1400eV. ...

One of the most valid and efficient models of long rod projectile penetration in homogeneous targets is Tate and Alekseevskii’s (A&t) model. Based on Tate’s model, the present research tries to calculate the optimum speeds to achieve the maximum penetration depth in the homogeneous targets. The proposed collision speed-penetration depth diagrams are developed using Tate’s model. In this way, va...

An important issue in the acceleration of Uat the forthcoming FAIR/GSI [1] is the projectile electron loss in the collision with the rest gas atoms(molecules). It can lead to degraded focusing and loss of the beam to the walls. These charge-changed fast ions strike the accelerator container walls and give rise to sputtering and activation of the surface. Evidently, it is important to study the ...

In the present work, the scattering differential cross section has been investigated for ion-multi electron atoms collision in the charge transfer channel. For this purpose, an active electron model was implemented and the collision process was considered as a three-body impact in the high energy range. A semi-classical formalism was used with the eikonal distorted wave function to describe the...

A second-order approximation to the Faddeev-Watson-Lovelace treatment of the rearrangement channel is used in a three-body scattering cross sections. In this formalism, the Three-body wave function is expressed by three coupled integral equations, the Faddeev equations, which contian the two-body (off-shell) transition amplitudes, and proved the uniqueness of their solutions. This amplitude c...
